Attercliffe Community Garden - Setting the scene
Plans are being developed by residents in Attercliffe, Sheffield, to build a new community garden in the area. They had originally looked at applying for a grant fund, but to do this, members of the local community must provide evidence that there is a need for the project. Currently, they do not have enough sufficient evidence to apply, so instead they are hoping that local businesses will sponsor the project and fundraising events will raise funds for what needs to be done. The garden space will contain edible plants, flowers, benches and a stage, to be used for events. David Slater, 59, property developer and business owner in Sheffield, said: “Any green space anywhere, benefits the community. The more people we can bring in, the more people that invest in Attercliffe, the happier we will all be.”
