The song "Fingers Crossed" was released by singer songwriter and former American Idol contestant Lauren Spencer-Smith on January 5. It has already racked up over a million hits on Spotify and reached number one on the US iTunes chart.
"All you did was prove me wrong. When you said you loved me well you must have had your fingers crossed."
Lauren Spencer-Smith, 18, is a singer songwriter from Canada and in 2019, her YouTube cover of Lady Gaga's "Always Remember us this way" went viral. She has since gained 2.8 million followers on Tik Tok and accumulated over 60 million likes on the app. She also made it to the last 20 singers on season 18 of American Idol.
In late November, she posted a teaser on Tik Tok of this new heartbreak anthem which received over 22 million views. Fans had been eagerly awaiting the release of the full song ever since.
In a Tik Tok video she said: "This is for anyone out of a toxic relationship." The song is about finally moving on from someone who didn't appreciate you, and realising that the relationship wasn't all that it seemed.
"I gave you my hours and advice just tryna fix you, and all your daddy issues but now I don't even miss you anymore."
Almost 120 thousand Tik Tok videos have been made by other users with her sound that teases the song. It is a song to scream in the car and have on repeat with friends to realise your worth and not settle for less than you deserve.
"I want all the tears back that I cried."
The song can be listened to on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
